Spiders are controllers of insect pests.
Unlike insects, which have three body parts and six legs, spiders have two body parts, eight legs and four eyes. As predators on small animals and insects they are an important part of a well functioning eco system and are generally rather beneficial to humans. In turn they also serve as food for other animals.
